Food Truck Crawl in The West Bottoms

This Saturday, March 5th, a food truck crawl will be held in the popular West Bottoms during a First Friday weekend! Set for 10:30-2:30, some of KC’s favorite food trucks will be parked at the intersection of Hickory and 12th St. and color coded maps and bottles of water for a suggested donation of $2 will be available at the Crawl.

It’s an interesting story how this event came to be- Morgan A. Perry, who works for Mid-Continent Public library, leads The Business of Food Trucks, an organization that works with food truck startups at Mid-Continent Public Library. Through this program, people can take a six-week business series for individuals interested in starting a food truck business led by Jazzy B’s Bar-B-Que owner Brandon Simpson. MCPL is currently the only in-depth education for the business side of food trucks in the Mid-West. He thought a Food Truck Crawl would be a great way to spread the word on the work they are doing- in three days of making the Facebook event the number interested in going went from 300 to over 8,7000 and 2000+ going! What a great way to support the local food trucks and the stores and artists of the West Bottoms!

A complete list has not been released, but we do know that many of our favorites will be there. So far, we have confirmed that Cheesy Pops’ Pizza, Beauty of the Bistro, Crave of KC, Monk’s Roast Beef, and Boo Yah will be there and many are being added this week! The event is kid-friendly, but is expected to be crowded. Each truck will have their own menus so check out their menus on their websites and Facebook pages to find out more on price and selection.
