Amid the bars, restaurants, venues, and hipster clothing joints in Westport is a new fresh place to grab something healthy and light! Ruby Jean’s Juicery, opened by former Missouri State football player Chris Goode, brings a refreshing healthy alternative to beers and burgers (still good!) in Westport.

11150801_1116902701659609_7490654540869911051_nOne look at Ruby Jean’s makes you smile- bright green and orange colors, a beautiful blue painted sky ceiling, a quaint patio, an herb garden, and iPads connected to free WiFi could very well make this juicery the most relaxing spot in Westport.

The main attraction- the juices and menu! Goode, always athletic from playing college ball, but not so wise on nutrition, lost his grandmother, Ruby Jean (the store’s namesake) and he questioned the role that nutrition played in good health. While living in Los Angeles, he fell in love with juicing. Ruby Jean’s was born.

The Grand Opening was in July and so far, Ruby Jean’s is off to a great start. Within the first week, locals and “local celebrities” alike were lining up to try the bold, and delicious, juices and smoothies along with acai sherbert bowls, oatmeal and toasts. Our absolute favorite: the avocado toast topped with avocado, tomatoes, olive oil and crushed red pepper! Yum! With a strawberry pineapple smoothie, I can’t think of a better way to eat healthy (or nurse a late night in Westport!)

The Kansas City Chief’s #29 Eric Berry stopping by for a “Berry Strong” smoothie. 10% of proceeds from Berry Strong smoothies goes to the Eric Berry Foundation.

Two other notable perks! Our favorite Chief’s player Eric Berry has been sighted in the store- Ruby Jean’s is donating 10% of every “Berry Strong” smoothie to the Eric Berry Foundation! Need more motivation? The Port KC, a local gym is right down the stairs.

Ruby Jean’s is open from 7-7 during the week and 9-5 on the weekend. It is located at 4001 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111.  http://www.rubyjeansjuicery.com
