Earlier this year, I wrote a story about Great Plains SPCA, my friend Scott Poore and how he helped a the gentle giant named Bolt find his “furever” home. So many great stories have come out of this place, always improving the life of a pet- and really, the people around them.

This time, it’s Great Plains SPCA that need our help.

Kansas City Metro’s most comprehensive No Kill animal welfare organization are in a financial crisis and need you! The employees, volunteers, Board of Directors and friends of the shelter are spreading the word about this crisis and hopefully can raise funds in the next month. Thanks to a generous family in the community, every dollar donated will be matched from Sept 15th – Oct 15th.

Kansas City animal welfare has come a long way thanks to this devoted organization. Thousands of homeless pets visit Great Plains SPCA each year- this financial crisis would leave many cats and dogs at a crossroads between finding a furever home and an unimaginable life. The 35,000 pets that come through their doors are depending on your help. Just today, Great Plains SPCA stepped in and are saving 48 puppies form a mill in Oak Grove, MO. Several dogs were pregnant and living in deplorable conditions and the staff at Great Plains SPCA are slowly transporting the dogs out of this condition. They need our help today.

Please consider donating to this dedicated group. Every penny will be matched. Give these pets the chance – and life – that they deserve and help the devoted group of employees, veterinarians, and volunteers continue to improve the lives of animals.
