Deck the Halls (and Walls!) with Michael Savage Originals!
Mike Savage grew up in Kansas, first in the Strawberry Hill area in KCK and then, attending KU in Lawrence. He is now a resident of Westwood, KS and his art gallery, Sav-Art Gallery sits on the corner of the small but thriving art district near Westwood Park. Throughout his life he has honed his skills and in 1987, his artwork was first displayed at the former JJ’s restaurant, combining his love for food and wine with the artwork on the restaurant’s walls.
Mike’s art is an eclectic, bright mix of contemporary and impressionistic, a style that stems from his admiration of the impressionistic era, like Monet and Van Gogh, but also his favorite American artists, John Singer Sargent, Wayne Thiebaud, Hans Hoffman and Mark Rothko. His subjects? He connects what he loves in life to his paintings, ranging from iconic KC scenes, sports’ teams/players, and hot spots to wine, food, and famous landmarks around the world.
This Holiday season, why not get that someone special a print of the holiday lights on the Plaza or a beautiful ornament now on sale? We love this local artist and his artwork would make a wonderful addition to any home. What we also love? Mike has a fundraising element to his art- he will often team with groups to come up with a beautiful piece of art and sell for charity or donate a print to charity for auction. Thank you for giving back local!
