Pinterest Lovers Unite!
Fall is in the air and many of us are probably searching Pinterest and finding all kinds of ideas on how to decorate for the season. For some though, this is a really stressful thing. Pinterest fails can be funny at times, but also frustrating to those of us that really want to try something new and make our house look festive. The Makery KC is here to help!
The Makery KC
Kristin Ruthstrom and Ashley Scherer, co-owners of The Makery KC began partnering with Bella Patina in May 2016. Their goal: to provide a comprehensive DIY experience to replicate high end home decor in a simple and affordable manner. Classes and workshops where guests are given all materials and instructions to construct a beautiful project and have a good time while doing it! The Makery KC provides a small homemade appetizer bite with wine pairings during the class and attendees leave the workshop with a complete project, tutorials which include workshop instructions (so that attendees can replicate the product again at home), as well as the recipe for the seasonally appropriate small bite and an explanation on the wine and food pairing. Inspiration for the projects comes from popular spots such as Restoration Hardware and West Elm, and the women’s main purpose is to tell people know that you do not have to be “handy” or “crafty” to complete these projects. The Makery KC takes all of the hard work and prep out of it, and breaks it down “so that ANYONE can go home with a quality product.”
The events are held in the beautiful backdrop of Bella Patina in the West Bottoms during popular First Friday Weekends. Attendees are invited to shop and have a great time learning about the projects. Friends, design enthusiasts, and moms, Kristin and Ashley created The Makery KC with “me” or “friend” time in mind and to create a space where one could grab their mom, sister, or best girlfriend (or boyfriend!) and go, relax, and get creative juices flowing!
Special Pop-up on Thursday, September 22
The Makery KC has planned a special Pop-Up Event at Mid Coast Modern on September 22nd at 6:00. Attendees will make an adorable table-top terrarium. Wood bases, copper wire, glass globes and perfectly potted succulents are provided in this super chic and modern local store. Wine will also be served and the store will be open for shopping. Tickets are limited and can be found here.
October’s First Friday Weekend: October 7th, 8th & 9th
Three individual workshop parties will be offered for First Friday Weekend in October.
- BOO-tiful Halloween Decor- THREE different projects will take place during this workshop where you will make a cool faux spider web, “BOO” garland and witch’s broom.
- Hello Fall Door Decor– This is a one-of-a-kind porch project! This “hello fall” sign can translate to modern or farmhouse and will carry you through to your Thanksgiving get together.
- Adult Pumpkin Decorating- Decorate some sophisticated and modern pumpkins to adorn your home. Bring in 2 of your own pumpkins (real or paper mache) and The Makery KC will have all of the supplies and instructions you need to be the envy of the trick-or-treaters!
Workshops will be held throughout the weekend and to reserve your spot, visit The Makery KC Shop page and choose your preferred time. With three different classes offered, spots will be limited and fill up fast!
With Fall decorating made fun and easy, we can’t wait to see what is in store at The Makery KC for the Thanksgiving and Holiday season!! For those of you that can’t make it to a class, they also retail “Take & Make Kits” where all materials and instructions that would be given during a class time are provided, but allow you to make it on your own time, in your own home.
